General Counseling

Each of us face times in our life where our usual resources are stretched thin, unexpected challenges occur, or we could just use the support and expertise of a mental health expert. Challenges such as grief / loss, anxiety, relationship issues, and more are common yet difficult aspects that come with being human. Although these may be normal experiences, they can have a very significant impact your life.

General counseling can do the following:

  • Increase your ability to cope with life’s daily challenges
  • Increase the amount of, and strength of resources and coping skills
  • Increase your ability to remain focused and calm under pressure
  • Process and heal from losses
  • Increase cooperation / communication with partners, family members, and friends
  • Decrease self-destructive or self-defeating behaviors

Approaches used:

I combine several techniques for helping you reach your full potential. I have found it best to use a combination of the following approaches:

  • Person-centered, supportive counseling
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Cognitive Restructuring
  • Visualization and Relaxation techniques


What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a brain based approach to optimizing both physical and mental performance. EMDR is successful in a number of areas including clearing out past traumas (falls, injuries, abusive coaches), managing the anxiety of competition, and enhancing performance.
